BABYLON 5 WAR COLLECTIONS: The Telepath War I

Babylon 5 War Collections: The Telepath War Part I "Psi Cops" are members of a para-military body enforcing laws related to telepaths and operates with few checks against their authority. This is especially true when dealing with non-telepaths who have done violence against a member of the Psi Corps. For example, after capturing a murderer of telepaths, they implanted an image in his mind so horrifying that the person had to be permanently restrained to prevent him from ripping out his own eyes. In another case, a man who murdered a Psi Cop was ejected from a spaceship. While Psi Cops claim to only want to bring rogue telepaths back to the Psi Corps family, they are likely to kill a rogue telepath upon capturing one. Psi Cops possess a rating of P-12[1] (the highest rating within the "P-scale" used in the series to measure psionic strength) P-13's or slightly higher are a rarity and some of those that are eventually found out to be P-13's, also become rogue telepaths and go on the run in fear of what the Psi Corp will do with them through experiments (A Race Through Dark Places), Psi Corp also use telepaths of lower ratings in support roles. Psi Corp has attempted to increase a telepath's abilities through genetic manipulations and experiments, one such experimentation produced enhanced abilities in a P-10 level telepath named Jason Ironheart, in an attempt to produce a stable telekinetics and stronger telepaths for the Psi Corp. Ironheart volunteered to have his telepathic powers increased, but they soon became unstable. He fled from Psi-Corps, eventually coming to B5 where he set up an escape route for other rogue telepaths, but was pursued by Bester. However, Ironheart began to undergo destructive "mindquakes," releasing bursts of psychokinetic energy so powerful they threatened the station. As Ironheart realized that his abilities had grown too great to contain, he discorporated his physical form, but not before leaving Talia with a gift; enhanced telepathic shields, and even a bit of telekinesis of her own (Mind War). Doctor Stephen Franklin of Babylon 5 participated in an underground railroad to help rogue telepaths escape from the Corps (A Race Through Dark Places). Eventually, the telepaths who escaped provided assistance during the closing days of the Shadow War. Later on, President John Sheridan of the Interstellar Alliance allowed rogue telepaths to form a small colony on Babylon 5. The situation ended in violence when the Psi Cops attempted to take the rogue telepaths back to Earth. After the colony on Babylon 5 was forced to leave following the death of its leader, Byron, Lyta Alexander began a crusade against the Psi Corps. Her actions led to a war in which rogue telepaths and non telepaths fought the Psi Corps. The old Psi Corps was destroyed, and a new Psionic Monitoring Commission was built to replace it. Once the Telepath War was over, the Psionic Monitoring Commission dedicated itself to hunting down those members of the Corps who committed war crimes, such as Alfred Bester. He was eventually captured and sentenced to spending the rest of his life in prison with his abilities taken away by drugs. Many private schools were founded to educate telepaths; they met with mixed success. Telepaths were allowed a much wider range of options as far as their lives were concerned. Rather than having to join the Psi Corps, they were able to do almost anything they wanted. This included joining the Earth Alliance military and working for private organizations.

BABYLON 5 WAR COLLECTIONS: Minbari Civil War

Babylon 5 War Collections- Minbari Civil War The Minbari are a very religious people. The Minbari religion does not have a central god figure, nor does it have a pantheon of gods, though on one confusing instance in an early episode Delenn did speak of "The gods." The Minbari have a belief that the universe itself is sentient, and that the universe has the ability to break itself into many pieces and invests itself in every form of life. Consequently, every being is a projection of a part of the universal soul. They believe that the universe uses the perspective of individual sentient beings in a process of self-examination and a search for meaning (similar to the real-life belief of pantheism). Valen is a central figure in Minbari religion.[2] However, Valen is not considered a deity. He was a "Minbari not born of Minbar". About AD 1260, a fortress suddenly appeared in Minbari space, on which resided Valen flanked by Vorlons, who then led the Minbari people against the Shadows. After the war, Valen helped restructure Minbari society, organizing the Grey Council to lead it. These nine individuals came from each of the three castes. This form of government remained stable for a thousand years until the next Shadow War. Valen knew the Shadows would return and wrote prophecies to warn the Minbari when the next war was starting.[3] After these tasks were completed, Valen left Minbar; the remainder of his life and eventual fate is still a mystery, though it has since been kept a secret by the Grey Council that he did have a wife and children in self-imposed exile, most of whom returned to Minbari society in secret, had families of their own, and added human DNA to the Minbari gene pool. Minbari with human DNA are consequently called "children of Valen". Delenn will eventually learn she is herself a "child of Valen". Minbari people believe in reincarnation. They feel that after an individual has died, the soul of the individual joins with all the other departed Minbari souls. The souls then all meld together becoming one. Then the souls are reborn into the next generation of Minbari. Thus Minbari do not welcome Soul Hunters—their gathering of souls interferes with the reincarnation process.[4] This was the central reason behind the Minbari stopping their war with the humans, as they had found "that Minbari souls were reborn in human bodies" as well as the fact that the Minbari have some human DNA.[5] [edit] True Seekers Minbari respect the role of "true seekers", which Delenn explains are those who follow the calling of their hearts. Even when such a seeker's task appears to be folly, other Minbari -- especially religious caste -- will provide what assistance they can. This was showcased in Grail, an episode during which a human boarded Babylon 5 searching for the holy grail and Delenn aided him in his quest.[6]

DOCTOR WHO - The Oncomig Storm IV

Doctor Who is a British science fiction television programme produced by the BBC. The programme depicts the adventures of a mysterious alien time-traveller known as "the Doctor" who travels in his space and time-ship, the TARDIS, which appears from the exterior to be a blue police box. With his companions, he explores time and space, solving problems, facing monsters and righting wrongs. The programme is listed in Guinness World Records as the longest-running science fiction television show in the world[1] and is also a significant part of British popular culture.[2][3][4] It has been recognised for its imaginative stories, creative low-budget special effects during its original run, and pioneering use of electronic music (originally produced by the BBC Radiophonic Workshop). In Britain and elsewhere, the show has become a cult television favourite and has influenced generations of British television professionals, many of whom grew up watching the series. It has received recognition from critics and the public as one of the finest British television programmes, including the BAFTA Award for Best Drama Series in 2006. The programme originally ran from 1963 to 1989. After an unsuccessful attempt to revive regular production with a backdoor pilot in the form of a 1996 television film, the programme was successfully relaunched in 2005, produced in-house by BBC Wales. Some development money for the new series is contributed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), which is credited as a co-producer. Doctor Who has also spawned spin-offs in multiple media, including the current television programmes Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures, and the 1981 pilot episode K-9 and Company. The show's lead character is currently portrayed by David Tennant. In the programme's most recent series, which ran from April 5 to July 5, 2008,[5] Catherine Tate played the Doctor's companion, reprising her role of Donna Noble from the 2006 Christmas special.[6] Another Christmas special will air in 2008, followed by four more specials in 2009; the next full series has been confirmed for airing in 2010.

BABYLON 5 WAR COLLECTIONS: Earth Civil War Part 2

Babylon 5: Earth Alliance Civil War Part 2/2 After the second Shadow War ended, Captain Sheridan turned his attention to overthrowing President Clark and liberating Earth and its colonies. A key turning point came when warships were ordered by Clark to lay siege to the rebellious Proxima 3 colony to keep it within the Earth Alliance. When warships loyal to Clark attacked and killed 10,000 innocent civilians trying to escape, Sheridan took his highly advanced White Star fleet to save the colony. In a brief but fierce battle, Sheridan's White Stars disabled or destroyed several Omega class destroyers; he also convinced several EarthForce destroyers to switch sides and support him during the battle. After liberating Proxima 3, Sheridan's fleet began to move towards Earth. As they traveled they steadily picked up an increasing number of EarthForce destroyers and cruisers whose crews could no longer support Clark and his fascist regime. However, many EarthForce vessels remained loyal to Clark, and as a result numerous battles took place, but in each battle Sheridan's more advanced White Star ships were able to disable or destroy the Earth warships. In an effort to undermine Sheridan's supporters on Earth, Clark began to spread propaganda that Sheridan was under sinister alien (especially Minbari) influence. To discourage EarthForce crews from defecting to Sheridan, the crews were told that Sheridan killed all humans found aboard captured Earth ships and replaced them with Minbari crews. As Sheridan's forces neared Earth's solar system, Clark unleashed his secret weapon - a fleet of twenty Omega-Class Destroyers which had been upgraded with Shadow technology. All twenty advanced Omega destroyers were annihilated in a fierce battle by a squadron of White Stars under Commander Susan Ivanova, but most of the White Stars were either destroyed or suffered severe damage as well. Ivanova's ship was badly damaged and she was fatally injured. Sheridan was captured by EarthForce in a trap and tortured in an Earthgov facility on Mars, but was eventually rescued by the "Free Mars" rebel movement; he subsequently recovered and returned to his fleet. He then approached Mars with a massive armada of White Stars, EarthForce vessels that had defected to him, and a large number of warships from various alien governments who had joined him in a show of support. Together they disabled a fleet of Omega-Class destroyers loyal to Clark; the Omega-Class destroyers were led by General Lefcourt, a close friend of Sheridan who had served as his mentor at the EarthForce Academy. Sheridan then led his fleet to Earth itself, where Clark committed suicide rather than being taken prisoner by Earthgov personnel. Before killing himself, Clark turned the planetary defense grid towards the Earth's surface. To prevent the planet from being devastated, Sheridan's fleet - including EarthForce ships which had been fighting for Clark at Mars - destroyed the defense grid before any damage was done to the planet. Sheridan's ship was saved from destruction in the battle by General Lefcourt's destroyer which had just arrived from Mars. With Clark's death, President Susanna Luchenko of the Russian Consortium was named the new Earth Alliance President. In a prior agreement with the Free Mars movement, Sheridan convinced President Luchenko to grant Mars its independence. With Clark's downfall, martial law was ended and democracy and the Earth Alliance Constitution were restored.

Odyssey 5 is a Canadian science fiction series that first ran in 2002 on Showtime in the United States and on Space in Canada. In the United States, the initial run of the series ran for 14 of the 20 episodes, leaving the six remaining episodes unaired for a period of roughly two years. (They aired in 2004 on Showtime as "missing" episodes, which ostensibly included the open-ended series finale.) The show was cancelled despite the fact that the series was one of Showtime's highest rated original series.[citation needed] The series made a full run of all 20 episodes in the United Kingdom on Sky One and on SciFiUK and in Canada. In 2004, the series aired in Finland on Nelonen and thus could also be seen in Estonia; In 2005, it aired in the Netherlands on NET 5 after midnight. In addition, Odyssey 5 is being or has been aired on RTL Klub in Hungary[2], and premiered in Australia on the Sci Fi Channel in December 2006. Currently the series airs on Cadena 3 (channel 28) in Mexico, the Sci Fi Channel in the United States, SIC Radical in Portugal, Mega Channel in Greece and extreme tv in Spain. Odyssey 5 is the brainchild of Manny Coto, who served as a script-writer and executive producer during the series run. Through his website and in interviews, Coto has expressed his interest in returning to the series at some point, either continuing it or giving it a conclusion.[citation needed] The series was produced in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Battlestar Galactica McCreary has been the sole composer for the re-imagined series of Battlestar Galactica since inheriting control from Richard Gibbs, the primary composer for the 3-hour miniseries which served as the pilot for the series. BABYLON 5 WAR COLLECTIONS: Earth-Minbari War

Babylon 5 War Collections: Earth Minbari War: The Battle of the Line The war was provoked by an Earth Alliance task force led by Captain Michael Jankowski aboard the warship EAS (Earth Alliance Ship) Prometheus, engaged on a mission to investigate the Minbari, an alien race known to Earth only through stories from other races. Unfortunately, being fresh from their victory over the Dilgar, EarthForce Command arrogantly ignored Centauri Ambassador Londo Mollari's advice to take a cautious approach; Londo recommended that Earth send only one ship into Minbari space so as not to appear hostile. Instead, EarthForce arranged for an expedition fleet of several large warships, including the Prometheus. During the expedition, the Prometheus and her escorts encountered three Minbari cruisers, one of which was carrying the Grey Council, the highest echelon of Minbari society. The Grey Council was en route to investigate reports of sightings of their ancient enemy, the Shadows. Although Jankowski had been given strict orders to not do anything which might be perceived as hostile, Jankowski disobeyed the orders and refused to jump to hyperspace when the Minbari spotted his fleet. He thought that by waiting to the last possible moment to jump he could gain valuable sensor information about the Minbari cruisers, and this would lead to a promotion and medals from a grateful EarthForce Command. When he finally did decide to flee, it was too late. Upon seeing the Earth vessels, the Minbari cruisers opened their gunports as a sign of respect and strength - an old Minbari custom that the Humans were unaware of. Dukhat, leader of the Grey Council, realized the error and ordered the gunports closed - but too late. Captain Jankowski misinterpreted the gesture as a sign of hostility, an impression compounded by the fact that the powerful sensors of the Minbari cruisers accidentally disabled the Prometheus' jump engines, thus preventing the ship from jumping to hyperspace and escaping. The captain had been told by his first officer that his vessel's jump engines had malfunctioned and that the weapons on the Minbari cruisers were "hot" (active), although this was not the case - although the gun ports were indeed open, the weapons systems were not online, and EarthForce's relatively primitive technology did not allow them to scan the Minbari vessels' internal systems to realise this. Still, believing the Earth fleet was in danger of imminent attack, Jankowski panicked and opened fire on the Minbari ships, scoring a critical direct hit on the cruiser carrying the Council. Dukhat was killed and his protege Delenn, in a fit of rage, cast the deciding vote on the Council to wage a war of vengeance against Earth. However, the war of vengeance quickly turned into a holy crusade by the Minbari to exterminate humanity. The Earth Alliance made frantic efforts to present official apologies to the Minbari through all possible diplomatic channels, and tried to obtain help (military or diplomatic) from neutral alien races such as the Centauri. However, no alien race wanted to incur the wrath of the awesome Minbari military, and so Earth was left to fight alone. Although races like the Narns were willing to do business secretly, the supplies available were insufficient for Earth military needs.

The Prophet -Frank Herbert ´s Dune Part II

The Saga of Dune part 2/3 The Prophet Dune is a science fiction novel written by Frank Herbert and published in 1965. A joint winner of the 1966 Hugo Award and the winner of the first Nebula Award for Best Novel, Dune is popularly considered one of the greatest science fiction novels of all time, is frequently cited as the best-selling science fiction novel in history,[1][2][3] and was the first bestselling hardcover science fiction novel ever.[3] Dune is set far in the future amidst a sprawling feudal interstellar empire where planetary fiefdoms are controlled by noble Houses that owe allegiance to the Imperial House Corrino. The novel tells the story of young Paul Atreides (heir apparent to Duke Leto Atreides and scion of House Atreides) as he and his family relocate to the desert planet Arrakis, the only source of the spice melange, the most important and valuable substance in the universe. In a story that explores the complex and multilayered[4] interactions of politics, religion, ecology, technology, and human emotion, the fate of Paul, his family, his new planet and its native inhabitants, as well as the Padishah Emperor, the powerful Spacing Guild, and the secretive female order of the Bene Gesserit, are all drawn together into a confrontation that will change the course of humanity. Dune spawned five sequels written by Herbert before his death in 1986: Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune, and Chapterhouse Dune. It also inspired a 1984 film adaptation by David Lynch, a 2000 Sci Fi Channel miniseries and its 2003 sequel, computer games, a board game and a series of prequels and sequels co-written by the author's son Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson starting in 1999.

Babylon 5 the complete story part 4/7 Episode four includes clips of Babylon 5 season 4 and the movie Thirdspace Monologue from Season Four spoken by just about everybody Lennier: It was the year of fire, Zack Allen: the year of destruction, G'Kar: the year we took back what was ours. Lyta Alexander: It was the year of rebirth, Vir Cotto: the year of great sadness, Marcus Cole: the year of pain, Delenn: and the year of joy. Londo Mollari: It was a new age. Stephen Franklin: It was the end of history. Susan Ivanova: It was the year everything changed. Michael Garibaldi: The year is 2261. John Sheridan: The place: Babylon 5. Dialogue in Into the Fire spoken by John Sheridan to Delenn Sheridan: We are all alone now, just the younger races. We can't blame anyone else from now on. It's a new age, Delenn. A third age! Delenn: Why third? Sheridan: We begun in chaos, too primitive to make our own decisions. Then we were manipulated from outside by forces that thought they knew what was best for us. And now -- now we are finally standing on our own. Lorien was right, it's a great responsibility. This is ours now. Delenn: Strange. The galaxy seems somehow smaller now that the First Ones are gone forever. Sheridan: It feels like the magic's gone now. Delenn: No, not gone. Now we make our own magic. Now we create our own legends. Now we build the future. Now we stop.... Sheridan: ... being afraid of shadows. Final note of Season Four spoken by Delenn It was the end of the Earth year 2261. It was the dawn of a new age for all of us. It was the end of one chapter, and the beginning of another. The next twenty years would see great changes, great joy, great sorrow. The telepath war. The Drakh war. The new Alliance would waver and crack. In the end, it would hold -- because what is built endures. And what is loved endures. And Babylon 5... Babylon 5 endures.

A self-contained world five miles long, located in neutral territory. A place of commerce and diplomacy for a quarter of a million humans and aliens. A shining beacon in space . . . all alone in the night. It was the dawn of the Third Age of Mankind -- the year the Great War came upon us all. This is the story of the last of the Babylon stations. The year is 2259. The name of the place is Babylon 5.
