Space
Ok this is serious question that came to me after watching an episode of stargate (don't laugh). In this episode, O'neil and Teal'c are trapped in a ship and are rescued by another one. But to escape their ship they have to blow the top off, free float away from the ship for 5-6 sec before being transported aboard the other one.
So my question is this, can you survice in space for 5-6 seconds without a space suit ? If not, what's the main reason you would die instantly ?

STS-115 SPACE SHUTTLE ATLANTIS LAUNCH
Sept. 9, 11:15 a.m. EDT
Space Shuttle Atlantis lifted off from Kennedy Space Center and charged into the midday Florida sky on a mission to boost power on the International Space Station. The launch was on time, with liftoff at 11:15 a.m. EDT. Over the 11-day mission, the six-member crew will perform three spacewalks to install the P3/P4 integrated truss and solar arrays on the station, doubling the current power generating capability of the orbiting outpost.
Atlantis Heads for Station
The shuttle Atlantis is in orbit, headed for a challenging new phase in the construction of the International Space Station.
Commander Brent Jett and his five crewmates will install a new 17-ton segment of the station's truss backbone, adding a new set of giant solar panels and batteries to the complex. Three spacewalks are planned.

Astronaut demos drinking coffee in space
Presented by http://collectSPACE.com -- The Source for Space History and Artifacts.
When Dr. Don Pettit lived aboard the International Space Station in 2002, he became known for his "Saturday Morning Science" sessions, during which he would demonstrate really cool, simple microgravity experiments.
Earlier this month, Pettit returned to space, this time as member of space shuttle Endeavour's crew on a mission to upgrade the outpost. After 10 days of hard work, the STS-126 crew got some time off Sunday morning and Pettit took the opportunity to film a special episode of Saturday, err, Sunday Morning Science.
In his video, which he later narrated for Mission Control, Dr. Pettit demonstrated his take on a zero-gravity coffee cup...

Col. Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency visited the Ontario Science Centre and spoke about some of the very human aspects of space travel.
Thank you so much for the feature YouTube...minutes before this was recorded I said to Chris Hadfield that I wanted to put his video on the internet and make him famous...(a joke...since he is already famous). He is a terrific guy and a great Canadian scientist.
And speaking of Canada...there will be a Canadian YouTube meetup on 888 at the Ontario Science Centre in Toronto. Check out the 888torontomeetup channel... : )

When an immense mining ship, the USG Ishimura, comes into contact with a mysterious alien artifact in a remote star system, its communications with Earth are mysteriously cut off. Engineer Isaac Clarke is sent to repair the Ishimuras communications array, but he arrives to find a living nightmare—the ship is a floating bloodbath, the crew unspeakably mutilated and infected by an ancient alien scourge. Flight of the Conchords Ep 6 Bowie's In Space
Bowie's in space
Bowie's in space
What you doing out there, man?
That's pretty freaky, Bowie
Isn't it cold out in space, Bowie?
Do you want to borrow my jumper, Bowie?
Does the space cold make your nipples go pointy, Bowie?
Do you use your pointy nipples as telescopic antennae to transmit data back to
Earth?
Bet you do, you freaky old bastard you
Hey Bowie, do you have one really funky sequined space suit?
Or do you have several ch-changes?
Do you smoke grass out in space, Bowie?
Or do they smoke Astroturf?
Ooh!
Receiving transmission from David Bowie's nipple antennae
Do you read me, Lieutenant Bowie?
This is Bowie to Bowie
Do you hear me out there, man?
This is Bowie back to Bowie
I read you loud and clear, man
Ooh yeah, man!
Your signal's weak on my radar screen
How far out are you, man?
I'm pretty far out
That's pretty far out, man
Ooh- ah- ooh!
I'm orbiting Pluto
Ooh- ah- ooh!
Drawn in by its groovitational
(Groovitational pull)
I'm jamming out with the Mick Jagger-nauts
Ooh, and they think it's pretty cool
Are you okay, Bowie?
What was that sound?
I don't know, man
Ooh, it's the craziest scene
Yeah, I'm picking it up on my LSD screen
Can you see the stratosphere ringing?
To the choir of Afronauts singing
Bowie's in space
Bowie's in space
Bowie Bowie Bowie Bowie Bowie Bowie

Practice Space - The Walkmen
FOR MORE OF PRACTICE SPACE VISIT:
http://www.vbs.tv/player.php?bccl=Mjg0OTQ3NzE4X19NVVNJQw=
When shooting bands for Practice Space, we usually like to bring along a couple of beers for the band. Not only does it promote loose lips and relaxation and give you something to do with your hands, there is just something about beer that says "we come in peace and to chill." It also has a tendency to draw out some good drunk stories with little to no prompting. Anyways, it turns out that the Walkmen don't like to drink beer at 1 in the afternoon, so we brought them cookies and cupcakes instead. I thought maybe we could get some cutesy tales out of them about their costumes for the cover of the remake of that Nillson album they recorded, or accounts from their weddings, you know, pastry-inspired stories. Instead, they told me about the time Ham was arrested at SXSW and how when their recording studio was shut down they barricaded themselves in with a 600-pound piece of wood. So what we learned is that when it comes to stories, alcohol is alcohol, fermented or not.
