What should be done about profanity on the internet?
Sometimes I get on "News Discuss" and the profanity is the worst I have ever read. They call it "trolling" as an excuse. Sometimes young people are interested in the topics also and all they have to do is depress the "Discuss" icon and they are in the discussion board. Also when I surf the web for certain topics, some of the titles are inviting you to a porn site or anything that is not recommended for innocent children. Parents can program the computer, but some of these kids nowadays know more about computers than older people. Some children can override their parents desires by out-computing their parents. Something has to be done.

What is the law concerning public display of profanity?
What is the law concerning public display of profanity? Like, would it be illegal to display the f word on a t-shirt, or a bumper sticker, or a billboard, or on the sign for your store etc.?

What do you think about people who use profanity around their kids?
I'm not talking about the occaisional slip up, most people are guilty of that, but I know some people who seem to have no reservations at all about cussing around their kids. Then people act so shocked when the kid uses that language himself. I think it's unfortunate but it's also so widespread, in entertainment, at school, and other areas. Ironically, movie producers will often put lots of swearing in their movies to attract a more 'mature' audience, as if using profanity was a trait of 'maturity'.

What do you think of people who use profanity often?
At work my supervisor uses profanity pretty much on a daily basis. And while she doesn't use it with her superiors or with customers, I still find it a little disconcerting to hear her use these words so often. I realize it's fairly acceptable in many circles and age groups (but in this case we work in a office setting!), but it just seems to me that it's often quite unnecessary, even if you are really frustrated over something.

Any way to configure a Youtube profile to filter profanity in comments?
From time to time, I enjoy scrolling through comments about films, and I'm wondering if there's a way to apply a profanity filter to any of the messages (a number of message boards have filters like this, which is why I'm curious if settings like this apply to youtube.) Thanks.

Why do so many people think that profanity is a sign of strength?
There are times when profanity is acceptable. Your hand gets slammed in a car door, or your computer crashes and you lose all your data. I'm talking about people who literally every other word, use profanity. It doesn't matter if they are talking about a grocery list, or talking about the weather. Are they simply unintelligent, or do they actually think that they are being cool and tough when they talk that way?

I have a boss who uses profanity and is just unprofessional?
My boss uses profanity at meetings he holds. He also stated one time when he found out someone broke something at work and didn't tell anyone, that if any of us on his team did this he would burn us. "Burn us?" I thought this sounded like a child in middle school trying to sound big and bad, not someone in management at my job. Can I or should I go to higher management and inform them of his unprofessionalism. Or should I take this to a lawyer as a form of haressment?

Can you be disciplined for profanity in the workplace?
If you work in a job where you don't deal verbally with the public (so the only people that would hear you are coworkers), can your employer discipline you for use of profanity? Wouldn't that be a violation of freedom of speech? Please keep in mind that I'm not asking your opinion of profanity itself, I'm just asking for legal opinion.
